Dear Councilperson XXXXXX,
I am writing to express my concern for the proposed ordinance titled "Impeding Access to Health Care" that you are considering. I ask you to vote NO and prevent this unnecessary infringement on our rights of free speech, freedom of expression and freedom of assembly.
The proposed ordinance is based on a false assertion that women are being denied access to the abortion facility and is proposing that their right to health care access is being impeded by the presence of others on the sidewalks. This claim has no basis in fact. In the last five years, there are only two documented incidents that claimed that access was impeded; one was dismissed and the other resulted in a lawsuit the City lost. This shows access has NOT been impeded and therefore this ordinance is not needed to protect the right to access healthcare.
As you know, this proposed ordinance would be redundant in protecting access to healthcare since current law already does so in sections 351.07(24) and 509.03 of the Toledo Municipal Code. The police already have the authority to act in line with this law and ensure adherence to these statutes without directly assaulting my freedoms as this proposed ordinance would do.
Given that this is a non-issue that serves a specific business at the expense of the rights of many, I strongly urge you to vote NO on this attack of our freedoms.
Sincerely, a voting tax-payer, XXXXXXX

Councilperson XXXXXXX,
I have heard that you are reviewing a proposed ordinance that is being touted as 'protecting access to healthcare for women' while really being about limiting the life saving presence of people on public sidewalks offering alternatives to these women. I ask that you vote NO to this ordinance because it is redundant, infringes on protected rights, and ultimately, does not protect women.
The trained, compassionate outreach of people on the PUBLIC sidewalks around the abortion business on Sylvania Avenue has served many women with true choice out of love for others. Children in our community are alive today because of the heartfelt efforts of these peaceful counselors that believe 'choice' does not deny women the opportunity to learn about abortion alternatives and support available to unsure mothers and fathers. Access to the abortion clinic is already protected in the Toledo Municipal Code as part of protecting the rights of all of us to have unimpeded access to healthcare. You do not need to take away from my rights to use the laws already on the books to protect access to healthcare, even at an abortion facility.
This ordinance is a ruse. It is not about the rights of women. It is about stopping prayer and outreach of counselors in public spaces. The police record proves that women's access is already protected and the claim that counselors have blocked or denied access of the abortion facility is dishonest given the records only two such incidents with one being dismissed and the other resulting in a lawsuit the City lost.
Please continue to enforce the laws that ensure access to healthcare for all of us AND also keep the rights to peaceably assemble, speak freely and express differing opinions by voting no on this unnecessary and unconstitutional proposal.
Sincerely, XXXXX, a concerned voter and taxpayer.
